Monk Temple
Overview
The Monk Temple is a secluded building atop a large mountain northwest of Totville. Its entrance is intentionally ambiguous on the world map, requiring individuals to explore areas off of the main path to find it.
History & Current Role
The Monk Temple is located at the top of the "1000 Stairs of Trial" (Referred later to as the "1000 Stairs of Shame" by Master Lao), and is occupied by four individuals (Including Master Lao and three of his pupils) while a fifth trainee stands at the base of the mountain to tell visitors of the 1000 stair trial. Although offered the right to train with Master Lao and his pupils, Kai opts not to spend the next fifty years studying the mysterious (and oft downright absurd) teachings of Lao. Master Lao ultimately sends Kai back down the mountain, instructing him to "Eat two watermelons and call [a] fisherman" before returning to his mentoring.
