== Overview ==
The Hills of Sanctus is a region east of [[Castle Resteed]] in southeastern [[Namiria]] that includes the remains of the [[Sanctus Fortress]]. It is here that the game LOQO 2 begins. It is also the location of the [[Cheats|cheat necklace]], a device that can alter gameplay or trigger events, at the cost of the ability to save the game.

== History & Current Role ==
[[Sanctus Fortress]] and the large canyon beyond were the site of a massive war involving significant use of magic. The scarred land and ruined fortress stand as testament to the power unleashed during the war, and the resulting destruction.
 
The Hills of Sanctus now serves as the home of [[Kai]] and [[Zhu'Yen]], as well as several weak species of monster. This abruptly changes when a shadow spike strikes near the fortress, resulting in the appearance of [[Altum]] and [[Opala]], as well as numerous soldiers.

Immensely strong and equally serious in tone, Altum is as obscure as his figure within his armor. Little is known about him, save for his fighting ability and his dedication to serving his evil masters. Altum appears at the Sanctus Fortress after a Shadow Spike strikes. His Onyx armor makes him virtually invincible to any attack attempted upon him.

A retired priest, Zhu'Yen is a neighbor of Kai, and the two will often rely on each other to survive. When a Shadow Spike strikes the Hills of Sanctus, Zhu'Yen immediately offers to accompany the hero to investigate.

The main protagonist of LOQO 2 and a former member of the Blackeagle Gang, Kai's personality is generally created at the discretion of the player. In Episode 2, Kai is revealed to be a creation of the Neverous tribe, intertwining his fate with that of the supposedly lost tribe from ages past.

Ruler of Egypt as of the end of LOQO, Opala is now on the run from [[Altum]] and her sister [[Osira]]. Fair and Kind, she quickly befriends her new rescuer, Kai, as they escape from Sanctus Fortress and Altum. The circumstances surrounding her fleeing Egypt are somewhat unclear, although Osira and her servant, [[Seth|Supreme Commander Seth]], are certainly involved.
